During
the brief period of vinification and fermentation, the wine-maker has
to face a hard work or control on grapes, musts and wine. Maselli Misure
offers a range of analyzers designed to handle two basic aspects of
wine-making:
Basing
upon the refractometer measurement only, these instruments not only
detect sugar levels in the grapes and musts, but also other parameters
important in wine-making such as the alcohol level, total extract and
residual sugars. This is possible because the refraction index of a
must or wine is the result of all the substances dissolved in it: sugars,
salts, acids, alcohols, etc.
The machine is composed of an LR01 refractometer and microprocessor
equipped with dedicated software that transforms the optical parameters
into the required analytical data. This equipment has many advantages:
instantaneous readings and rapid processing speeds produce results in
just a few seconds, and the analyses do not require the addition of
reagent. The LCD screen with water-proof keypad displays the menus of
the dedicated software, including those which concern the handling of
each batch, with fermentation monitoring through periodic sugar analysis
also managing enrichment, mixing and treatment of the fermenting must.
The addition of a selective probe allows measurements to be made directly
on the non-reduced extract in the sample taken, improving the accuracy
of the reducing sugar measurements.
This instrument not only answers the need for quality control in the
wine cellar from the arrival of the grapes through the fermentation
process, but also improves efficiency in the wine laboratory by offering
simplified analysis procedures, immediate and reliable results and extremely
low operating costs.
